Celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2015, Tusk
Trust has been initiating and funding conservation, community development and
environmental education programmes across Africa since its inception in 1990.
TUSK currently supports 52 field projects in 17
African countries that not only work to protect wildlife, but also help to
alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education. Tusk’s aim is
to forge an inextricable link between the preservation of Africa’s natural heritage
and the future of its land, culture and people.
HRH The Duke of Cambridge has been the Royal Patron
of Tusk since 2005 and has been a powerful advocate for Tusk’s work to support conservation,
education and community development across Africa Ever since. In a speech to mark
Tusk’s 20th anniversary, The Dukenoted: “The imperative of balancing
conservation of wildlife and natural resources with the ever-growing needs of
the human race is at the heart of the great challenge facing mankind today.”
The Duke has also stated that "Future generations must have the chance to
wonder at The Continent’s spell-binding natural heritage for themselves.
